The Basics of Car Seats

It's a given that we want to keep our kids safe, including when we travel. Here's some information that can help you better understand what type of car seats you might need.

Babies should always ride in a rear-facing car seat. Rules vary by state, but in some places, children are to ride backwards until they reach the age of two. Convertible seats can be either rear- or forward-facing, so those interested in keeping their same car seats for awhile can think about that option. When children are ready to face forward, they should be riding with a seat with a five-point harness for greater support in case of a crash. After they've reached the maximum weight and height limits for that seat, they can then ride in a booster.
